Compare Co-op Funeral Plans

The Co-operative Funeralcare is a large UK Funeral Director with over 900 funeral homes nationally and a further 300 funeral homes who operate on Co-operative Funeralcare’s behalf. Part of The Co-operative Group, they have been around in UK communities for over 150 years.

Co-operative are committed to providing a personal, professional and respectful service and according to their own 2014 customer research, 98% of their clients would recommend their services because of their commitment to providing the best possible care. Co-operative Funeralcare also claim to be the first UK wide carbon neutral Funeral Director (though Dignity make a similar claim!)

One of the key benefits of the Co-operative Funeralcare’s prepaid funeral plans is that they guarantee the cost of all the services included in their plans, including fees known as “third party” charges that are outside of their direct control. Many other funeral plans offer allowances towards 3rd party fees rather than guaranteeing them. They offer 3 standard plans (bronze, silver and gold) and their charges for these standard plans are very competitive.

They offer both cremation and burial plans but with the burial, there are some items not included in the standard plans. For example, if you don’t have a burial plot, one will need to be purchased, and the memorial (or headstone) is also not included in their standard plans. However, they do offer a separate tailor made memorial plan which you could purchase in advance if you didn’t want to leave the choice and cost for your family.

Co-Operative do offer tailor made pre paid funeral plans though and in those you can choose to include whatever items you wish and they will provide a quote based on the choices you’ve made. As part of their tailor made funeral plans, you could even opt for a woodland burial at one of their three woodland burial grounds in Dorset or Wirral.

Co-Operative Funeralcare offer the option of a joint plan where 2 plan holders are named and the plan can be used for either of the plan holders.
